Speaking to the Sanilac/Huron "We The County" group

I had a chance to speak to the We The County group in Snover, MI on April 16th, 2024

I’m pulling up a presentation that I gave to the Sanilac/Huron ‘We The County’ group in April last year. While the presentation discusses specific legislation passed in December 2023, many of these issues remain unsettled.

That is, the state is still trying to determine how it will meet the requirements of Public Act 235, which mandates that we supply 60% of our electricity from so-called renewable energy sources. In reality, that requirement means we will need to provide approximately two-thirds of our electricity from wind and solar because the other “renewable” sources (hydro, landfill gas, etc.) provide minimal amounts of electricity. Also, as I discuss in the presentation, that requirement comes with a host of reliability, environmental, and human rights issues.

I’ve set up a free preview for the first part of the presentation. Paid members can view the full presentation and follow along in the bullet points below. They will guide you through the slides and provide links to the sources I cited in the presentation and additional explanations or information.

Feel free to leave a comment or ask a question. Please also feel free to share this around.
